Every trailer needs lights to be street legal, but how much lighting? The most important lights to have are your Stop/Tail/Turn Lights, STT for short, and your Marker lights. STT lights are red and mounted at or near the rear corners of the trailer. They serve much the same purpose as the tail lights on your vehicle, letting those behind you see the trailer in dark conditions, as well as know when you're braking or planning to turn. Marker lights are either red on the back half of a trailer, or amber on the front half, and usually required at the sides of each of the rear most and front most corners. Lastly your trailer's license plate must be illuminated as well so that it can be read at night.
As trailers grow larger they require more lighting. A common inclusion is a 3 light ID bar made of three red marker lights placed at the center at the very back of the trailer. Many trailers also put additional marker lights on their fenders. Our trailer parts experts are always here to help you figure out what your trailer needs to be safely lit up.
