Trailer suspensions are ideally designed to be strong enough to last but supple enough to provide some cushion to the body of the trailer. That cushion protects other components as well as your load from the roughness of the road. Your standard trailer suspension features front and rear hangers, with one set of hangers being connected by paired shackle links to a leaf spring.
The lynch pin of most Trailer Suspensions is the Leaf Springs. Leaf springs have a lot of variety but the core design is an arched stack of spring steel plates curled into an eyelet at one or both ends. When a Leaf Spring has a bolt hole at both ends it is an Eye to Eye Spring. If one of the ends terminates into a hook or flat, it is a Slipper Spring. Leaf Springs come in a variety of leaf thickness, stack height, spring widths and lengths, and bolt sizes. At Trailer Tech we have over 40 different Leaf springs on our shelf to cover the broadest possible selection.
When multiple axles are placed under a trailer the suspension changes slightly with the inclusion of an equalizer. The Equalizer, sometimes called a "rocker" serves a vital role of distributing shifting weight and road heights so that the load is properly handled by all the axles working in tandem. Tandem is also an alternate name for two axle systems. The equalizer your trailer needs is determined by a number of factors, from the axle spacing to the trailer height and what kind of Leaf Springs it is linking together.
With our wide selection of in stock equalizers and other suspension components we're confident we'll have what you need to get your trailer back up and on the road.
We love getting hands on to know for sure you're getting what you need, so feel free to visit during normal business hours. Bringing in sample parts, even broken ones, is the best way to ensure a positive ID on what you need to get rolling.
